Tomato Relish Without Certo

 

 

 

3 lbs Tomatoes

1 Pint Malt Vinegar

2 tsp Salt

6 Small Onions

1 tsp Black Pepper

2 tsp Made Mustard

½ lb Brown Sugar

 

 

 

1.         Wash the tomatoes and slice them.

 

 

2.         Peel and shred the onions.

 

 

3.         Place all the ingredients in a preserving pan and cook gently for 3 to 4

hours, stirring constantly.

 

 

4.         When all is soft, rub through a coarse sieve.

 

 

5.         Re-boil the pulp.  Pour into jars or bottles and cover immediately.
